motivation or lack there of…

need to…  want to…  have to…  should…

i have all these reasons why i want to go to the gym and workout, so why am i stalling?  it’s so frustrating…  grr!

im on the last legs of fighting a cold, hopefully, and am currently using the down time to upload new music into itunes and ultimately on to both of my ipods.  i also did some research into new running shoes.  i found a new pair of nikes that are compatible with my nike+ ipod training system.  its really is uncomfortable sticking the sensor in the space for the arch of my foot in my current pair of acsics, but it is nice to be able to chart my workouts.  see the days i did well versus the days where i was lacking.  the ymca i go to also just finished their renovations for the new wellness center and their new cardio machines are compatible with the nike+ and ipod systems.  awesome!

my main reason is i need to get back in shape.  working the midnight shift in dispatch the past 2.5 years has added a few unwanted pounds.  trying to get enough sleep during the day has significantly reduced my activity level, so now im behind the 8ball and have to play catch up.  ugh!  i am also going to fire school (starts 2/16) and i could use more strength and endurance for firefighting over all.  my 3rd reason is i found a charity run in september called the tunnel to towers run.  it’s a charity in honor of all those who died on 9/11.  check out the site   tunnel to towers run

since we are finally having a break from the artic weather im going to try and get out there this next week and get the routine in gear.  got new music for the ipod, will be working on the nike+ components over the next month, got a new swimsuit and zoomers (training fins), and hopefully some new motivation to help get in gear.  i’m also hoping that keeping tabs on my progress will help keep the motivation going.

so here’s the deal.  i have to workout (lifting w/cardio) at least 3 d/wk in the gym and support the off days with either running outside or swimming in the pool.  i also got a weight vest to simulate fire gear to help practice on the stair climber (part of the cpat test i will be taking), and will be incorporating that into the workout in a few weeks.  trying not to kill myself the first 2-3 wks into it.  lol…
